1 INTRO to Sanctuary Truths

Follow the Lamb Seminars

Introduction to the Sanctuary

The sanctuary of the Old Testament is a gospel in symbols drama of the plan of salvation which not only describes how to be saved but by Whom we are saved and gives the prophetic time periods and explanations of when it will all
be finished. Though we have a part to act in our salvation, it is only through Jesus it can happen. This Seminar when presented in Universities can be 42 lectures long and still the greatest minds have not gotten to the depth of its meaning. When presented in only 11 days, many people have camped about the sanctuary and demanded 3 meetings a day. One place would not let us stop. When we shared about the resurrection, they rejoiced so loudly and for so long, we had to stop preaching till they quieted down. They had been through a fearful genocide.

If you attend each presentation with pen and a booklet and record all you can, I guarantee your faith will grow more than you have ever experienced. This visual symbolic presentation will stick in your memory like no other Bible lesson ever has. Each lesson builds on the previous so it makes more sense to you if you attend each meeting. Now, if that is not possible, have someone take notes and tell you what happened. However, the experience of actually being there  leaves a deeper mark in the memory.

Health Lesson: How to get longer use of the eyes

Discussion involves foods to eat & vitamins needed. (The eye health is dependent on getting normal rest with the eyes shut. It needs vitamins A, Folate, zeaxanthein, lutein. Pictures of anatomy of the eye show how amazing this organ is. To be blind is a terrible thing. Do you know what to expect when you reach the age of 40, 50, and 60? The eye will deteriorate if it does not have proper nutrition and rest and protection. The eye is 70 percent water. If you are dehydrated there will be less tears to bathe the eyes and a more rapid progression of eye disease can follow without the natural antibiotic filled liquid bathing and nourishing the outer and inner eye. In a tribe in DRCongo, all had at least one eye blind. They asked the doctor why. She asked how many cups of water daily were consumed. The startling answer was part of the reason for blindness. The rest involved diet and lifestyle. Another race had a very high percent of blindness and it was discovered they had a very high usage of banana beer along with no water intake. Another common problem among computer users is the decreased blinking done with the eyelids. The constant intense focus on the iluminated screen brings drying of the eyes and lack of normal muscle use as compared to one who is out in the garden doing work and moving the eyes about.

Bible  Lesson  Outline:
 The Bible Sanctuary of the Old Testament is referred to throughout the whole Bible. You can find the most details in the books of Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, & Deuteronomy.

He (God) presented before Moses a miniature model of the heavenly sanctuary, and commanded him to make all things according to the pattern showed him in the mount. Moses wrote all the directions in a book, and read them to the most influential of the people.  {1Spirit of Prophecy 269.1}

The people responded with joy to the call for offerings. They were so thankful that they were free from slavery and had a chance to recover and rebuild after being abused in Egypt.  “And they came, both men and women, as many as were willing-hearted, and brought bracelets, and ear-rings, and rings, and tablets, all jewels of gold; and every man that offered, offered an offering of gold unto the Lord."  {1Spirit of Prophecy 269.2}

1.       There is a sanctuary in heaven of which this earthly model is only a shadow. Hebrews 8:5.

2.       Outer Court of the sanctuary - was surrounded by a white curtain with only one door. At that door, judgment took place. Example: Story of Miriam's leprosy as written in Numbers chapter 12. Watch for which commandments she broke (#9 Thou shalt not bear false witness; #3 Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain, #10 Thou shalt not covet.)
A. The White curtain was with out any spots or wrinkles. White is a symbol of the perfect character of Jesus that we must obtain.
B. The door was on the East to create a setting where worshippers had their backs to the sun and not as the false worshipers face the sun. The East is the direction Jesus will return from heaven from. East Gate was where the sheep were kept for sacrifice and where Jesus was taken to be crucified East of the tabernacle.
C. The Altar of Sacrifice (there will be separate lesson on this one)
D. The Laver (A separate lesson) was next and had to be washed in before the priests could enter the Holy room
E. The colors of the posts in the outer court, the feet of the 5 poles into the Holy Room, the laver, and the altar of Sacrifice were of bronze. In the goat curtain above the sanctuary there were connectors of bronze. The color is discussed during the lesson on the altar of Sacrifice. The story of the serpant on the pole in the wilderness describes Jesus taking our sin on Himself to set us free)
F. Colors of the gate : Red, blue, purple
The color Red= His blood
The color Blue=law (Numbers 15:38-41- (Blue border on robes signified commandment keepers) Do we have a significant appearance in our clothing that testifies we are His commandment keepers?
The color Purple=mix of red and blue. When you break the commandments, His blood needs to cover and that is a description of His mercy.

4.       How to Be Like Him (15 suggested ways) See below.

5.       Putting on His Character the White Robe symbolized by the outer court White Curtain.
By beholding we become changed.
   Romans 10:17 So then faith [cometh] by hearing, and hearing by the word of God."
   Philippians 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
 2:6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
 2:7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
 2:8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
        " Looking unto Jesus we obtain brighter and more distinct views of God, and by beholding we become changed. Goodness, love for our fellow men, becomes our natural instinct. We develop a character which is the counterpart of the divine character. Growing into His likeness, we enlarge our capacity for knowing God. More and more we enter into fellowship with the heavenly world, and we have continually increasing power to receive the riches of the knowledge and wisdom of eternity."  {Christ Object Lessons 355.1}

HOW CAN I BE LIKE JESUS?

How can I BE LIKE JESUS?

In the Bible we read of a request from God that we have the character of Jesus. We read  this in Philippians 2:5.               “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.” In this request of God, is also a promise of His help. He never asks you to do something that cannot be done. He is going to help this character be formed in you. He has given us many suggestions how we participate in getting this character.

1.Looking, studying his life:  ( 2 Cor 3:18) Spend a thoughtful hour each day on the life of Christ: "   It would be well for us to spend a thoughtful hour each day in contemplation of the life of Christ. We should take it point by point, and let the imagination grasp each scene, especially the closing ones. As we thus dwell upon His great sacrifice for us, our confidence in Him will be more constant, our love will be quickened, and we shall be more deeply imbued with His spirit. If we would be saved at last, we must learn the lesson of penitence and humiliation at the foot of the cross.  {DA 83.4}

2.Memorizing and claiming the promises. 2 Peter 1:4 whereby we can be partakers of the Divine nature.

3. Talking of Jesus  (Malachi 3: 16, Rev. 12: 11, Sons and Daughters 318)

4. Taking the steps in baptism following  His example (John 3:5)

5. Working with Him His way-medical missionary sharing the 3 Angels messages. Desire of Ages 142
Work with Jesus reaching out to help Him show the way to heaven. Do the work His way as medical evangelists being His healing hands. Share the 3 Angels messages His way. Soul winning with Jesus. “In order for us to develop a character like Christ’s, we must share in His work.” DA 142
6. Obedient to His commandments. Deuteronomy 28:9, 10.
Engrave His law in your heart. Memorize it. Study all Bible stories with the focus on which commandment was broken, and look into the deeper meanings of the issues involved. “ Who becomes a partaker of the divine nature, finds pleasure in keeping the commandments of God
7. Patience in trial. Job 23:10

“Often we enter the furnace of trial  with our souls darkened with selfishness; but if patient under the crucial test, we shall come forth reflecting the divine character.” Christ Object Lessons 178

8. Give all you have. Luke 14:33, Psalms 41:1-3

We are to Deny  self to do others good, devoting all we have to Christ’s service. Jesus said, “Whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be My disciple.”—He said that means not laying up treasures upon the earth! Time and all that we have belongs to Him. This concept describes an intensity of desire to devote all of our time, talents, education & training to His service.

When persecuted for their faith, beaten and thrown into prison onto a cold hard floor and their feet restrained and elevated up into the stocks, the disciples sang. I don’t know, could I have done that? They rejoiced to be suffering for the truth’s sake. 3T 406 discusses their amazing patience. I want to be like Jesus. On the cross He was thinking about our salvation, not about His own comfort. He could have released Himself and gone back to the comforts and riches of heaven but He wanted to deliver us from the control and power of Satan who is forcing us into misery and death.

If we do not let go of what we have, how can Jesus refill our hands?

9. Lead in social gatherings. Have special stories about Jesus to share. Have them ready.

and He taught His disciples how to do this: “Welfare Ministry, Page 287

Not one impure word escaped His lips. Never did He do a wrong action, for He was the Son of God. Although He possessed a human form, yet He was without a taint of sin.

When invited, as His work commenced, to a dinner or feast by Pharisee or publican He accepted the invitation. He was accused by the religious leaders of eating with publicans, and they cast the imputation upon Him that He was like them. But on such occasions Christ controlled the table talk, and gave many precious lessons. Those present listened to Him; for had He not healed their sick, comforted their sorrowing, taken their children in His arms and blessed them? Publicans and sinners were drawn to Him, and when He opened His lips to speak, their attention was riveted on Him.

Christ taught His disciples how to conduct themselves when in the company of those who were not religious and those who were. He taught them by example that when attending any public gathering, they need not want for something to say. But His conversation differed most decidedly from that which had been listened to at feasts in the past. Every word He uttered was a savor of life unto life to His hearers, and they listened with subdued attention, as though desirous of hearing to a purpose.

The respect shown to Christ at the feasts He attended was in marked contrast to the manner in which the scribes and Pharisees were treated, and this made them anxious. Christ gave lessons adapted to the needs of His hearers. It was when He was at a feast that He gave the parable of the great supper, and showed the way in which the invitation of the king was treated....

10. Hunger and thirst after righteousness. Mt. 5:6
“All who long to bear the likeness of the character of God shall be satisfied. DA 302.1
11. Plead for the Holy Spirit to help you. "The work of the Holy Spirit is immeasurably great. It is from this source that power and efficiency come to the worker for God; and the Holy Spirit is the Comforter, as the personal presence of Christ to the soul. Any person who looks to Christ in simple, childlike faith is made a partaker of the divine nature through the agency of the Holy Spirit. When led by the Spirit of God, Christians may know that they are made complete in Him who is the head of all things. As Christ was glorified on the day of Pentecost, so will He again be glorified in the closing work of the gospel, when He shall prepare a people to stand the final test in the closing conflict of the great controversy. . . . {CTr 365.4}
"If a man love Me," Christ said, "he will keep My words; and My Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him." John 14:23. The spell of a stronger, a perfect mind will be over us; for we have a living connection with the source of all-enduring strength. In our divine life we shall be brought into captivity to Jesus Christ. We shall no longer live the common life of selfishness, but Christ will live in us. His character will be reproduced in our nature. Thus shall we bring forth the fruits of the Holy Spirit--"some thirty, and some sixty, and some an hundred."  {COL 61.3} Christ Object Lessons
HE WILL KEEP THE WORDS ON TEMPERANCE: The Holy Spirit will help control the appetite. "...and in him who would be a partaker of the divine nature, appetite and passion must be brought under the control of the Holy Spirit. Christian Educaiton p 122
Man becomes efficient only by becoming a partaker of the divine nature.  {CC 83.5}

12.
Priority number one of Jesus was always seeking first the kingdom of God. He was always encouraging others to make it their first priority.

“Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness.” “This is our first and highest duty.” 3Testimonies for the Church 397 He tells us that by entire devotion and benevolence, prompted by grateful love, the divine fragrance will be with us. Not only are we becoming more like Jesus, there is something else happening to us. It is described as a special fragrance. I love the fragrance of roses. But this fragrance is of higher value.

 Those who deny self to do others good, and who devote themselves and all they have to Christ’s service, will realize the happiness which the world is looking for but cannot find.

“Those churches who are the most systematic and liberal in sustaining the cause of God are the most prosperous spiritually. True liberality in the follower of Christ identifies his interest with that of his Master.” 1Testimonies 405

SONG: Be Like Jesus, this my song, in the home and in the throng, Be like Jesus all day long, I would be like Jesus.
TO BE LIKE JESUS—HOW WILL I KNOW WHEN I AM LIKE HIM?

Christ filled their thoughts; the advancement of His kingdom was their aim. In mind and character they had become like their Master, and men "took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus." Acts 4:13.
The God of Jacob is my help

Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the Lord his God! Ps 146:5 "Constantly He is sending His angels to those who, while surrounded by circumstances the most discouraging, pray in faith for some power higher than themselves to take possiession of them and bring deliverance and peace. In various ways God will reveal Himself to them and will place them in touch with providences that will establish their confidence...and not forget the works of God, but keep His commandments." Ps. 78:7, Prophets and Kings 378

HOPE revives as we read His true promises. All His promises are true

My  collection of what Jesus is like: (Gathered during my hour a day of study on His life)
I really admire His ways and wish I could be like Him. "He who beholds the Savior's matchless love will be elevated in thought, purified in heart, transformed in character. He will go forth to ba a light to the world, to reflect to some degree this mysterious love. The more we contemplate the cross of Christ, the more fully shall we adopt the language of the apostle when He said, 'God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is cricified unto me, and I unto the world." Galations 6:14, (Desire of Ages 661)

The glory in His face was that of self-sacrificing love (Desire of Ages p.19)
He wants our love. He does not command or force. He does the kind things and the helpful things to win the response of our love. Then He has so much to give that you never want to return to the world's ways. He gives abundantly. Desire of Ages p. 22

He pitched His tent by the side of the tents of men. He had much better places in heaven to camp but He wanted to help us see what He is like so we can be delivered from sin. (DA p.24) His plan is to restore us to His original intended state of joy without sin.

Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” Is. 9:6

He is not ashamed to call us brethren (Hebrews 7:26; 2:11)

His goal is to show us how to resist sin for there will be no sin in heaven. If we want to live there, He can help us.
He will keep sin out of heaven DA 26
His life without sin testifies that Satan was lying. It is possible for us to obey the law of God. (Desire of Ages 24.) We must pray on our knees like Jesus often and God will help us obey and want to obey.

His purposes know no haste and no delay DA 32

He requires His angels to attend the steps of those who go and come at His command DA 48

The story of Bethlehem shows His humility to allow His birth to be in a barn with the animals. DA 48

I marvel that the KING of the universe exchanged His companionship with Adoring angels to be hated and misunderstood in his own family and His chosen race of Jews and the whole world. DA 48

Jesus accepted humanity when the race had been weakened by 4,000 years. He accepted the law of heredity and shared our sorrows to give us an example of a sinless life. DA 48.5

Through dreams and angel visitors, people were lead to see Jesus as a babe. DA 64

God the Holy Spirit cooperated with the mother of Jesus to educate Him in home school. DA

When threatened and intimidated, He passed on, making the Scriptures His guide. DA 87

He was serene under trial and deprivation. DA 87

He was misunderstood by His brothers because He was not like them. DA87.4

The example of Jesus was to his brothers a continual irritation. He hated only one thing. SIN. He could not witness a wrong act without pain which He could not hide. The pain was on His face.  DA 88

His forbearance and kindness were scorned as cowardice. DA 88.1

All who want holiness must learn lessons of temperance and self control. Then we can have understanding and desire to copy Jesus  DA 101

After His baptism, Jesus knelt down and pleaded with tears for approval of His heavenly FATHER. DA 112

“Faith working by love is the key of knowledge, and everyone that loveth ‘knoweth God.’ 1 Jn 4:7 DA 139  Jesus had perfect faith

When Nathanael came to see Jesus He believed. Prejudice holds many away. DA 140

HOW JESUS RELATED TO HIS MOTHER: For 30 years He had been her loving and obedient son and His love was unchanged. He just had to go about the work of HIS Father to redeem this world.(Luke 2:49 My Father’s business) He changed jobs. He showed respect using the Oriental custom speaking to her as “woman”

He was not controlled by any human: “Yet no earthly ties must hold Him from His mission, or influence His conduct. He must stand free to do the will of God…The claims of God are paramount even to the ties of human relationship. No earthly attraction should turn our feet from the path which He bids us walk.” DA 146.2 Mary could find salvation only through the Lamb of God. In herself she possessed no merit.

HOW DID JESUS RELATE TO HIS BROTHERS AND FAMILY? For whosoever shall do the will of My Father which is in heaven, the same is My brother, and sister, and mother." Matthew 12:48-50.

CREATOR: He created grape juice out of water . That juice was superior to any ever tasted before by those at the feast. DA 148

NO LEVITY: “no shadow of worldly levity marred His conduct; yet He found pleasure in scenes of innocent happiness, and by His presence sanctioned the social gathering. (Jewish marriage) DA 150

HE TAUGHT REVERENCE: He hushed the confusion in the temple and the people saw Him as the Judge of heaven with his eye reading every thought, and divine light coming from His face. He looked dignified and his voice rang out with authority as He demanded people to stop selling inside His house. DA 158

He showed a zeal and severity that no one dared to stop. Those who did not seek Him were fleeing from His presence but the ones who came to learn of Him were comfortable. DA 158 & 159

With tears in His eyes, Jesus said to the trembling ones around Him, Fear not; I will deliver thee

Doctor & HEALER: He healed whatever disease people had. The dumb opened their lips in praise; the blind beheld the face of their Restorer. The hearts of suffers were encouraged. The lepers were cured and could get back into society. Hope was coming back into their hearts. They proclaimed everywhere the love of Jesus DA 163  When Jesus was on the cross, these healed ones did not join the mob against Him. These people became ambassadors for Him.

HIS WORK CHANGED BUT IT WAS MOSTLY THE LOCATION: The whole ritual of the sanctuary was symbolical of Jesus Christ, it had no value apart from Him. On the day they put Him on the cross and He died, the Jews destroyed their temple which was Jesus). The curtain was torn from top to bottom showing sacrifical offerings were ended. By resurrecting He, Jesus, became the minister of the tabernacle in Heaven (Hebrews 8:2). In that place He rules on HIs throne. He is a priest there. (Zechariah 6:12,13). He became our Most High Priest. DA 165.

HE WAS NO LONGER VISIBLE but He can still hear us when we pray. Desire of Ages p. 166 While He delegates His power to inferior ministers, His energizing presence is still with His church. DA 166.2

He understands our infirmities and was in all points tempted just like we are but He did not sin. (Hebrews 4:14-16)

HOW DID JESUS TREAT NICODEMUS?  This interview was recorded for us to grasp the mechanics of how to become like Jesus.
A wealthy man and leader of the Jews was so impressed that he wanted to talk in person with Jesus. He came in the night when Jesus should have been sleeping. Jesus took time for this inteligent wealthy man who feared to allow anyone to know he liked Jesus. Jesus patiently told this leader he could not even enter heaven unless he received the baptism of the Holy Spirit and of water. This man had thought he was above such needs. Jesus patiently showed him his deficits. Jesus showed that you must have a new life from above before you can appreciate heavenly things. Until this happened, Nicodemus was wasting the time of Jesus to talk about His authority or His mission. DA 171  Jesus spoke without recognizing his position as ruler in Israel.

To be like Jesus is not gained by works but by meditating upon Him, through reading the Scriptures or through hearing the word from the living preacher.  It is the result of long wooing by the Spirit of God (DA 172)
OBJECT LESSONS DRIVE THE TRUTH DEEPER- Jesus said the wind cannot be seen but only its effects. So also the work of God the Holy Spirit on the soul will show by transformations in the life. Sins are put away, love, humility, and peace take up the space that anger had and envy had and strife had., Joy fills up the spot that sadness had. The face glows with the light of heaven. You cannot see it with your eyes but the change is happening. It is a mystery. While Jesus was showing these things to Nicodemus, his heart was softening but he did not understand.

WHEN DIVISION IN THE WORK IS A DANGER- Jesus went to other places to work. Desire of Ages 181
JESUS MADE NO PLANS FOR HIMSELF. "So uterly was Christ emptied of self that He made no plans for Himself. He accepted God's plans for Him, and day by day the Father unfolded His plans. So should we depend upon God, that our lives may be the simple outorking of His will. (Desire of Ages 208.2
HIS LOVE WAS COMFORTING: People enjoyed the comfort of the love of Jesus so much they wanted to be with him continually. DA 254
SAD: Jesus rejoiced when His messages were accepted and when "He marked the change of countenance, the cold, forbidding look, which told that the light was unwelcome; when He saw men refuse the message of peace, His heart was pierced to the very depths." Desire of Ages 255.
WHEN ONLY CURSES CAME FROM THE DEMON POSSESSED MAN, Jesus recognized a heart cry for help. He cast out the demons and the eyes which glared with insanity beamed with intelligence and overflowed with grateful tears. Desire of Ages 257  I wonder how many crazy ones I avoided that I should have prayed for!  He did not return the curses but reached out to help them be delivered from Satan who held them bondage. Though the man brought confusion and alarm, so people could not hear the message, Jesus helped him be free of Satan.

JESUS WAS A MAN OF SORROWS AND ACQUAINTED WITH GRIEF.When people were rude and turned their backs on Him, because they were too vain and self-righteous to receive reproof, too world-loving to accept a life of humility, many turned away from Jesus. When truth is brought home to the heart, they see that their lives are not in accordance with the will of God. ..they are not willing...they are angry when their sins are discovered. They go away offended...when the Spirit reveals their sin, and bids them leave it, they turn their backs upon the truth, and walk no more with Jesus...a different spirit ook control of them. They could see nothing attractive in Him whom they had once found so interesting. They sought out His enemies, for they were in harmony with their spirit and work. They misinterpreted His words, falsified His statements, and impugned His motives. They sustained their course by gathering up every item that could be turned against Him; and such indignation was stirred up by these false reports that His life was in danger. DA 392-3. WITH YEARNING HEART JESUS watched those who had been disciples depart. He was not cursing but full of sorrow. JESUS DID NOT TRY TO HINDER THEM.

JESUS
"On His face he saw no sign of guilt, no expression of fear, no boldness or defiance. He saw a man of calm and dignified bearing, whose countenance bore not the marks of a crimanal, but the signature of heaven." DA 724.1

EACH WORD AND ACT WAS PLANNED FOR A PURPOSE: JESUS WAS SEPARATING WHEAT FROM THE TARES. He brought about the crisis while His personal presence could strengthen them: Every word and act had its definite purpose in the work for our redemption; which was calculated to produce its own result..."He who lives near to Jesus will understand much of the mystery of godliness." Jesus knew His words would cause the above sharp reaction and in mercy He caused those false ones to move away from His disciples who were soon to be severely tested at Gethsemane and Calvary. DA 394
Dignity and courage in His bearing in the midst of powerful enemies who were thirsting for His life. DA 452
POWERFUL SPEAKER: His words showed a knowledge of the laws and institutions of Israel, of the sacrificial service and the teachings of the prohets far exceeding that of the priests and rabbis. ..his words were most clear and convincing, and ..the people were astonished at His teaching; 'for His word was with power.' Luke 4:32
He is JUST: HE CAREFULLY WARNED THEM: He warned...of the calamity that would follow all who rejected the blessings He came to bring them.
THEY CALLED HIM IGNORANT: Jesus was called ignorant because he had not received training from leaders. Desire of Ages452
The most violent were powerless to do Him harm. Desire of Ages 453.2
Technique/Strategy of Jesus for coming near to people was to ask favors of their hands so He could bestow the richest blessings. For every favor manifested toward Him, He requited a more precious grace.  Desire of Ages 486

WHEN HE WAS REFUSED LODGING, Jesus was pained that His disciples wanted to kill the rude people by fire. He said,"The Son of man is not come to destroy mens lives, but to save them." and He went to another village." DA 487.2

Christ is ever showing mercy, ever seeking to win by revealing His love...He desires only voluntary service, the willing surrender of the heart under the constraint of love...There can be no more conclusive evidence that we possess the spirit of Satan than the disposition to hurt and destroy those who do not appreciate our work, or who act contrary to our ideas. DA 487

Every human being...is the property of God. Christ died to redeem all. Nothing can be more offensive to God than for men, through religious bigotry, to bring suffering upon those who are the purchase of the Saviour's blood." DA 488
Christ longed to make the rich young ruler a co-worker with Him. He longed tomake him like Himself, ..to develop the excellence of His character, and sanctify it to the Master's use. DA 519
TO ALL who become disciples, this is the rule. Nothing short of obedience can be accepted. (to give up all in order to follow Christ.) " Self surrender is the substance of the teachings of Christ."
 Desire of Ages 523
THIRSTING FOR HUMAN FELLOWSHIP: Jesus had gone to Martha, Mary, and Lazarus' home. "here He found a sincere welcome, and pure, holy friendship. ...knowing that His words would be understood and treasured."   HE LONGED FOR HUMAN TENDERNESS, COURTESY, and AFFECTION."Desire of Ages 524

PURPOSE FOR RAISING LAZARUS from the dead: to "set the seal of God on His work and His claim to divinity." DA 529
In matters where principle is involved, Let every man be fullly persuaded in his own mind." Romans 14: 12, 5.
PERSECUTION: "On every occasion when persecution takes place, those who witness it make decisions either for Christ or against Him." DA 630
"It was His joy that all His humiliation and suffering would glorify the Father's name. To this He first directs the thoughts of His disciples." Desire of Ages 662
JESUS WAS HERE TO SHOW US THE FATHER. Jesus asked with painful surprise to Philip why he still did not know Him. "He that hath seen Me hath seen the Father."664
JESUS GAVE US THE SAME POWER: "Jesus revealed no qualities, and exercised no powers, that men may not have through faith in Him. His perfect humanity is that which all His followers  may possess, if they will be in subjection to God as He was. DA 664

He came to the world to display the glory of God, that man might be uplifted by its restoring power. DA 664
He explained that the secret of success would be in asking for strength and grace in His name. He would be present before the Father to make request for them. The prayer of the humble suppliant He presents as His own desire in that soul's behalf. EVERY sincere prayer is heard in heaven...He will present it to the Father without one awkward, stammering word, beautiful and fragrant with the incense of His own perfection. DA 667

Jesus chose to represent Himself as a clinging vine which depends on Divine power " John 5:30

Jesus was kind to Judas the betrayer. was treated with utmost kindness, politeness, and mercy.  "A murmur of surprise ran through the assembly. With amazement they beheld the forbearance of Christ toward His betrayer.
He stood silent but His silence was eloquence. It was as a light shining from the inner to the outer man. Desire of Ages p. 726
Jesus was depressed and discouraged during His agony. DA 695
Pilate was amazed as he looked at Jesus. "Never before had a man bearing marks of such goodness and nobility been rought before him. DA 723
He looked pityingly upon Judas, and said, for this hour came I into the world." DA 722 (Here is evidence that when the wicked are destroyed, God will look with pity upon them.)
"His divine patience failed not." Roman soldiers forced back the maddened throng. Herod andhis men mocked Him and put the gorgeous robe on Him. Yet His divine patience failed not. Desire of Age 731.
Christ prayed for Pilate and as a result, God gave the wife of Pilate a dream. DA 732
Parental Care: Even when suffering, He thought of His mother. Jesus asked John to care for His mother.
ASS/ DONKEY RIDE INTO JERUSALEM: ANNOUNCED WHO JESUS WAS AND HE AS SET APART  AS THE PASSOVER LAMB: The riding on the donkey had a purpose to set Jesus aside for the world to recognize the Lamb before He was lifted up on the cross. Zechariah 9:9 Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he [is] just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.
  HERE IS A VERY INTERESTING QUOTE:
 On the first day of the week, Jesus resumed his journey to Jerusalem to join in the feast of the passover. Multitudes who had flocked to Bethany to see him, accompanied him, eager to witness his entry into Jerusalem. All nature seemed to rejoice; the trees were clothed in verdure, and blossoms which shed their delicate fragrance upon the air. Many people were on their way to the city to keep the feast of the passover. ...They had all heard of Jesus and were expecting him to go to Jerusalem, but they knew that he had heretofore refused to receive kingly honors, and they were greatly astonished to learn that this was he. They wondered what could have wrought this change in him who had declared that his kingdom was not of this world.  {2SP 384.2} ... thousands go forth to welcome Jesus to the city. They greet him with the waving of palm branches and a burst of sacred song. The priests at the temple sound the trumpet for evening service, but there are few to respond, and the rulers say to each other in alarm, "The world has gone after him."  {2SP 385.1}
... was intended by Jesus to call public attention to him as the world's Redeemer. He was nearing the period when his life was to be offered a ransom for guilty man. ... It was the purpose of Jesus to draw attention to the crowning sacrifice that was to end his mission to a fallen world. They were assembling at Jerusalem to celebrate the passover, while he, the antitypical Lamb, by a voluntary act set himself apart as an oblation. Jesus understood that it was needful in all future ages that the church should make his death for the sins of the world a subject of deep thought and study. Every fact connected with it should be verified beyond a doubt. It was necessary, then, that the eyes of all people should be directed to him, that the demonstrations which preceded his great sacrifice should be such as to call the attention of all to the sacrifice itself. After such an exhibition as that attending his entry into Jerusalem, all eyes would follow his rapid progress to the final end.  {2SP 386.1}
     The startling events connected with this triumphal ride were calculated to be the talk of every tongue, and bring Jesus before every mind. After his crucifixion these events would be connected with his trial and death; prophecies would be searched and would reveal the fact that this was indeed the Messiah; and converts to the faith of Jesus would be multiplied in all lands. In this one triumphant scene of his earthly life, the Saviour might have appeared escorted by heavenly angels and heralded by the trumps of God; but he remained true to the life of humiliation he had accepted, bearing the burden of humanity till his life was given for the life of the world.  {2SP 386.2}
     This day, which seemed to the disciples the crowning day of their lives, would have been shadowed with gloomy clouds had they known that this scene of rejoicing was but a prelude to the suffering and death of their Master. Although he had repeatedly told them of his certain sacrifice, yet in the glad triumph of the present they forgot his sorrowful words, and looked forward to his prosperous reign on the throne of David. New accessions were being made continually to the procession, and, with few exceptions, all who joined it caught the glad inspiration of the hour, and helped to swell the hosannas that echoed and re-echoed from hill to hill and from valley to valley. The shouts went up continually, "Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is He that cometh in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!" It was as if all that vast multitude were seeking to excel one another in responding to the call from a prophetic past.  {2SP 387.1}  (YOU WILL FIND THESE WORDS AGAIN DURING ANOTHER LESSON OF THE SANCTUARY! YOU CAN WAIT AND LOOK FOR IT ON THE LESSON OF THE 2 GOATS)
During the trial, Jesus forgave Pilate as far as He could.   "Thus the pitying Saviour, in the midst of His intense suffering and grief, excused as far as possible the act of the Roman governor who gave Him up to be crucified. What a scene was this to hand down to the world for all time! What a light it sheds upon the character of Him who is the Judge of all the earth!  {DA 736.7}
     "He that delivered Me unto thee," said Jesus, "hath the greater sin." By this Christ meant Caiaphas, who, as high priest, represented the Jewish nation. They knew the principles that controlled the Roman authorities. They had had light in the prophecies that testified of Christ, and in His own teachings and miracles. The Jewish judges had received unmistakable evidence of the divinity of Him whom they condemned to death. And according to their light would they be judged.  {DA 737.1}
Jesus,beaten and hungry, and thirsty is the only one at the trial with peace on His face. In the vast sea of upturned faces, His alone was peaceful. About His head a soft light seemed to shine. Pilate said in his heart, He is a God. Turning to the multitude he declared, I am clear of His blood. Take ye Him, and crucify Him. But . . . I pronounce Him a just man. May He whom He claims as His Father judge you and not me for this day's work. Then to Jesus he said,  Forgive me for this act; I cannot save You. . . .  {CC 324.3}

     Pilate longed to deliver Jesus. But he saw that he could not do this, and yet retain his own position and honor. Rather than lose his worldly power, he chose to sacrifice an innocent life. How many, to escape loss or suffering, in like manner sacrifice principle. Conscience and duty point one way, and self-interest points another. . . .

  Jesus showed such tenderhearted love for His fainting mother.

JOHN DOES A VERY NICE JOB IDENTIFYING JESUS AND HIS PURPOSES AND HIS EXISTENCE.
John Chapter 1
 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
 1:2 The same was in the beginning with God.
 1:3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
 1:4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
 1:5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
John 1 1:10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
 1:11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, [even] to them that believe on his name:
 1:13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
 1:15 John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me.
 1:16 And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.
 1:17 For the law was given by Moses, [but] grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
 1:18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared [him].
JOHN 1 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
 1:30 This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me: for he was before me.
 1:31 And I knew him not: but that he should be made manifest to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water.
 1:32 And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him.
 1:33 And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.
 1:34 And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God.

John 1:36 And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God!
JESUS IS THE DOOR --OF THE SHEEPFOLD---OF THE SANCTUARY
John 10:1 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.
 10:2 But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.
 10:3 To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.
 10:4 And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.
 10:5 And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.
 10:6 This parable spake Jesus unto them: but they understood not what things they were which he spake unto them.
 10:7 Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.
 10:8 All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them.
 10:9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.
 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have [it] more abundantly.
John  10:11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
 10:12 But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep.
 10:13 The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep.
John  10:14 I am the good shepherd, and know my [sheep], and am known of mine.
 10:15 As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.
 John 10:16 And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, [and] one shepherd.
 10:17 Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.
 10:18 No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.

Jesus asked the Holy Spirit to remain to help us.
